We arrived during the Songkran Festival, Thai New Year. The whole of Bangkok turned into a massive water fight with gangs of people armed with water pistols and buckets roaming the streets. As you can see from the photos below water was not the only thing they threw at each other. A white talc powder mixed with water is also smeared onto your face for good luck, its not the nicest but all good fun! We got very very wet. We did very little sight seeing due to the festival but did manage to visit the Royal Palace. Its very colourful. Other than the palace guard photo the photos are of the temple within the grounds. A huge complex with its centre peice being a Emerald Buddha (actually made of jade). After a hetic few days in Bangkok we escaped to the peace and tranquility of Ayuthya.
